The Winning bidder decided he could not afford it so I am having to Relist the Guitar.1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This is a players guitar. This guitar's top was refinished to Tobacco Sunburst probably over 25 years ago. Due to the wear marks on the top. The headstock, back, neck, and sides still have the original finish. The pickups are original patent sticker with the labels intact. The tuners are grover non original. The pickup covers, tune-o-matic bridge, stop tailpiece, strap buttons, volume knobs and tone knobs have been changed. The original ones should be gold and the tuners should be the waffle back type and the control knobs should be the witch hat type. There is no volute on the neck and no made in the USA stamp either. I could not determine if the pots are original or not, but the capacitors maybe original( they say sprague on them). The body appears to be the multi-layer mahogany, maple, and mahogany because of the checking pattern on the side of the guitar. The top is a 3 piece maple with very little to no figure. The binding is all original and the jack plate looks original. The truss rod cover looks original as well as the nut and pick guard. There is a small finish crack on the neck near the headstock, but no neck repair that I can detect. It is very solid and does not appear to be a break or a repair. The neck has a very nice round feel to it and I would say it is of medium thickness. I do not have a weight of the guitar but it is not on the light side. I do not know if the frets are original or not, but there is no cracks on the binding of the neck, but a few chips of fretboard are missing indicating it could have been refretted. The frets are in good shape and have lots of play wear left. I am not the original owner of this guitar and I do not know the history of it. The case is not original, but is a 70's hard plastic case with red felt lining. The serial number is very hard to read but the numbers 901??? are still there in the picture. This number dates the guitar to 1968 in Gruhn's Guide To Vintage Guitars. But the description of the guitar appears to be closer to 1969 due to the multilayer body. The neck does not appear to be the 3 piece of a 1969 or 1970 model, so therefore it has some transition features. There is a lot of player wear and a few extra holes drilled into the body. The strap button has 3 extra holes on the bottom of the guitar. Near the pickup selector cover there is another hole drilled. There is considerable checking on the neck, back, and sides of the guitar. This guitar is not mint, but player grade. If the top was original and the parts where all there this would be a 10,000-15,000 dollar guitar. This guitar would be a great one to restore to original and I was planning on doing it if I where to keep it. It is a great player and has sustain for days. The guitar sounds phenomenal and I hate to sell it. The strap buttons are the schaller locking type and they are gold.I have 100 % positive feedback and feel free to ask any questions about the guitar.I prefer payment on this item to be an e-check through pay pal.
