Here is another old Gibson. This one is a Les Paul Custom 54 re-issue made in 1972 with the LE serial number. There is a VERY limited supply of these guitars. Hardly any come up for sale, but when they do the dealers in USA are currently asking $7500 for them. I dont think there are more than two or three here in Great Britain, as they only made 60 for the whole world in 1972.
Not only is this guitar a great player, it is a very desirable and collectable model too, the neck pickup has a MASSIVE output, it will roar when you turn up full but has beautiful clear, bell like tones around seven on the volume control. All together a very musical pickup that you dont see very often. The bridge pickup is a P90 and if you have never played thru one of these you dont know what you are missing! It can knock your socks off for sure. These are both the original pickups. Original tuners.
It's been refretted with jumbo frets, and the bridge might be a replacement.
This rare model was made with a solid one piece mahogany body! No maple cap like the other les pauls (and even the regular Les Paul Customs had a maple cap). It has the 1 piece mahogany neck too.
This is a very classy guitar. 38 years old now, though the original finish still looks very clean. Has a couple of tiny dings here and there. The lacquer coat has got that typical yellowed tint. No breaks or mends on this one. All original electronics with untouched solder joints. The pots are stamped 1377215 and the serial number is LE774350.
