1971 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Tonight I am offering a very cool, very original Les Paul.

This old guitar has withstood the test of time as evidence by the high level of play wear AND the fact that everything here is original save for the jack plate!

I didn't have the heart to clean ANY of the dirt and grime from this Rock'N'Roll time piece as this adds to the guitars mojo...it actually makes it more playable (not too worried about scratches and smudges)

This guitar comes from the original owners family from right here in the Tupelo area!

The electronics are 100% original and untouched.

All four pots are dated 42nd week of 1971. All solder joints are untouched. Very cool black & red Sprague .022 tone caps

Both "Patent Sticker" pickups are MONSTERS with no weird noises or microphonic feedback. Covers have NEVER been off!....No reason, they are perfect!

Both pickup rings are UNBROKEN! All screws are original and tight! I was probably the first to remove them.

Pickguard is in great shape with original screws.

Alas, the old pickup switch tip is long gone and appears to have been missing for a while as the threaded tip has worn to a warm patina from years of use.

The neck is straight as an arrow and adjusts easily via 5/16" nut hidden by the original LP Custom truss rod cover.

The ebony fretboard is in wonderful condition with no signs of cracking...somewhat common on older ebony boards.

The frets are extremely low BUT plays like butter. This is an extremely fast neck with a nice, low action and a fresh set of D'Addario 10's.

No signs of damage or repairs on the 3-piece mahogany neck, or anywhere for that matter.

Cool old "Waffle Back" Kluson tuning keys work and LOOK great! (Daniel thinks they're ugly!?!?)

Even the nut is original and has never been removed.

Weight is a very good 10 pounds 11 ounces...very nice for this model and era!

All finish is 100% original AND untouched...we blacklighted it.

Also included is the ultra cool late 60's style rectangle hardshell case with orange lining. All latches and hinges function properly. Please note the handle is mising, as this may sway your decision on aquiring this wonderful old guitar!

Original ABR bridge AND saddles...wire is long gone. Lightweight tailpiece and studs show typical wear for a heavily played guitar.

Please ask any questions regarding this guitar.  Check all of the detailed photos below.

E-mail or call Main Street Vintage Guitars @ 662-842-9697 between 10am to 6pm Central Time with any questions.

Thanks, Mike.
