Gibson Les Paul Custom

This beautiful Les Paul Custom has
super-fast action and plays as effortlessly today as it did in 1969.  I am the second owner and bought it in 1978.  THE EBONY
FRETBOARD, BINDING, AND INLAYS ARE ALL PERFECT. The binding has aged dramatically to a deep
yellow-ivory. The frets are in amazing condition, never crowned or filed. Fully working truss rod. Sighting
down the neck, it is
absolutely laser strait on both sides. THE ACTION IS AS LOW AS I’VE EVER SEEN ON ANY GUITAR with no buzzes or dead spots up and down. As you can see from the pictures, it has a few small nicks on the body,
a few belt buckle marks on the back, and some checking on the paint, but
nothing major.  The gold plated tuning
pegs and bridge function perfectly but there is some oxidation (see pictures).  Also, as you can see from the pictures, the case
is not original, but is a beautiful Gibson hard case shell and fits the 1969 perfectly.

THE GUITAR HAS A ONE PIECE NECK AND ONE PIECE BODY WITH A LONG NECK
TENON. This distinguishes it from the later more common 3 pc neck
‘69s with the short transitional tenon. The internal pot dates are 1376902, or February 1969, which
indicates a very early 1969 manufacture. It has the same one piece construction
as a '68 (and a '59) including maple cap applied after routing. Additionally,
to verify its 1969 origin, the Gibson Logo on the tuning head is missing the
dot on the “i” and there is no “MADE IN USA” stamped on the guitar plus there
is no volute.
In 1970, the words "MADE IN USA" were impressed into the back
of the instrument headstocks.

All
the mounting hardware is original. In the control cavity, all original
CTS pots and Sprague black beauty caps. The black witch hat knobs have the gold
tops and are completely legible, with ALL the original plastic saddles and
foundry marks, super lightweight gold tailpiece, and original 5 ply pickguard.

The first owner changed out the original Humbuckers with DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100 pickups.  The Super Distortion were the first placement
pickups made in the early Seventies and were specifically designed to kick a
tube amp into total overdrive. The Super Distortion has a perfect blend of
power and tone: both single-notes and chords jump out of the amp and fill the
room (or the track) with a wall of sound.

So my February
1969 Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty” is all
original in every way with the exception of the pickups and the case. This
classic plays superbly with the lowest action I have ever seen on a guitar. This
1969 Les Paul Custom has that classic sound which just cannot be reproduced
with any newer models.  Whether you are a
collector or a player looking for the “real thing” - this is the guitar for
you.  This is the favorite guitar in my
collection. I will be sorry to part with it, but it needs a new home where
someone can let it rip!
